Tort law deals with civil wrongs that causes a claimant to suffer loss or harm, resulting in legal liability for the person who commits a tortious act.
In layman’s terms: Tort law deals with suing someone for damages caused by their actions. These damages can be mental, physical, or emotional. The person doing the suing is trying to recover the cost of the damage caused by the person being sued.

Personal injury ranges from the traditional definition- bodily harm or pain- to injuries that include mental or emotional injuries. If a personal injury prevents you from being able to work, the lost income might also fall within the definition of tort law.
